In a previous article, I spoke briefly about the four types of networking groups. Now, let’s take a look at a category of networking groups.

One category that most people are familiar with is the Chamber Of Commerce. Chambers serve a long standing role in the business community. It is a role of development and support. A Chamber Of Commerce can offer business both small and large with networking opportunities, training programs, legislative assistance and a host of other benefits. A Chamber Of Commerce can be a local, statewide, national, or international organization with separate memberships for each. If you belong to an area Chamber of Commerce, you do not belong to a state or national Chamber. Each plays their own role in the business community.

The Islington Chamber of Commerce appoints New Chief Executive

2010 will be an exciting year of possibilities for the Islington Chamber of commerce as we announce the appointment of our new Chief Executive – Ronke Lawal.

Ronke joins the Chamber in early January after spending 5 years running her own business as an advisor to small businesses, mainly on business development, marketing, events and PR.

With a good knowledge of the Borough, having studied for her A levels at City and Islington College she will be instigating a number of exciting new changes which will strengthen its place as an esteemed Business Membership organisation.  With her passion for business, Ronke has a vision for growth and revitalisation for the Chamber that will see it reach new heights in 2010.

Why Chambers of Commerce still mean business

The Islington Chamber of Commerce (ICoC) is just one example of why business membership works for so many and makes the difference between business success and business failure.

Should You Join Your Local Chamber of Commerce?

Recently I decided it was time to start a part-time business. I decided it would be wise to join my local Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber as it is known, is the place to network and connect with other local business owners. However, I learned something from this experience. I do not even like to network and connect. If you are person like me should you even bother joining your local Chamber?

Ask yourself some questions. Do you have a business that will make money on other businesses? If you have a marketing company the answer is yes. If you run an ice cream shop then it is doubtful.
